Our proud World heritage.

In Norddal there is an old “seter” called Herdalsetra, it’s about 300 years old. This farm has got World heritage site. The children in Norddal are very proud of this. It is fun to be on Herdalsetra. It is like to go back in time. You can see goats, horses, cows, sheep and people. There are many small houses called “cabin where you can live while your there. And there is a big farm house where they milk all the goats. You can also take a walk in the beautiful mountains around the seter.

It is not just Norddal that have got World heritage site. Our neighbour valleys, Geiranger, Tafjord, Eidsdal and Hellesylt, have also got World heritage site,

The 12thof June in 2006 we celebrated the World heritage site in all the villages. The main celebration took place in Geiranger. Queen Sonja took part in the celebration too. The school kids from all the villages sang a song together, and some of us danced like we were trolls. Each school in the five valleys made their own painting. They were big paintings. It was the school kids from 5th to 7th classes who made these pictures. The picture that the kids from Norddal painted was of Herdalsetra. All the paintings made one sculpture, and the queen in Norway, Sonja, opened it. Now you can see it if you take a trip to Fjordsenteret in Geiranger.
